Aether AI placed 450 tech specialists into Boston-area positions during June through its updated algorithm, according to figures the company released on July 10.
The placements arrive as software and data roles continue to expand even while global shipping routes face disruption and some international hiring pipelines slow. Local firms report needing engineers who can start within weeks rather than months, pushing demand toward domestic tools that scan résumés and project histories faster than traditional recruiters.
Offices and programs tied to the city
Aether maintains its main workspace at 1 Broadway in Kendall Square, steps from the MIT campus where several of its early engineers completed graduate work. The firm also runs a weekly office-hours session at the MassChallenge space on Congress Street in the Seaport District, where participants review live job postings from Route 128 hardware companies and downtown financial-technology groups.
Those sessions draw recent graduates from Boston University’s computer science program and mid-career coders who live in the South End and commute via the Red Line. Both groups use the platform to filter openings by commute time under 30 minutes and salary bands above $145,000.
Placement data and hiring trends
The Massachusetts Technology Council reported 285,000 tech jobs across Greater Boston in the first quarter of 2026, an 8 percent increase from the same period in 2025. Aether’s June placements accounted for roughly 1.6 percent of that quarter’s net additions, concentrated in machine-learning and cloud-security titles.
Employers posting through the platform pay a flat $4,800 per successful hire, a figure the company says remains below the average agency fee of $18,000. Candidates upload portfolios at no cost and receive match scores within 48 hours.
Workers interested in the next round of matches can create profiles before July 20, when Aether will open applications for 120 new listings from Seaport and Kendall Square employers. The company updates its public dashboard each Monday with the number of roles filled the prior week.
